THE STORY:

M. Agnes Jones Elementary is located in Atlanta, GA. 98% of students at M. Agnes Jones Elementary qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.  In class, students are learning about the Civil Rights Movement. During their visit to Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site, students will explore the exhibit “Courage to Lead” at the visitor center. Rangers will lead a tour of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Birth Home. Inside Fire Station No. 6, students will create a “blueprint” for their lives after watching Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “What is Your Life’s Blueprint?” speech. Students will also visit the statue of Gandhi, learn about Gandhi's life, and compare and contrast Gandhi's and Martin Luther King, Jr.'s policies of non-violence.

This gift will help cover bus transportation for 108 4th-grade students to visit Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. Every dollar raised will be matched 1-to-1 by the National Park Service Centennial Challenge Fund to cover other fees associated with this trip.
