I will run the 2016 NYC city marathon for my wifes Rachael fight to recover from stroke and for more people to be aware that stroke can happen to anyone. To All my friends and family I write this trying to let everyone know how life can change in an instant. That instant was dec 20,2015 when I found Rachael had a stroke. We went to bed the night before and hugged each other like we do alot. The next day we are at morristown hospital with rachael fighting for her life after having the stroke. After emergent surgery, now 13 weeks post stroke rachael is in rehabilitation working hard to regain her speech and strength. There are no guarantees by the doctors just that she is young and she in improving week to week. Stroke is a devastating experience and in no way did we think this would happen a such a young age. But it does happen and people need to be educated on the risk factors for stroke like family history and smoking are two strong risk factors.Stroke care also is very expensive without insurance it would almost be impossible to get the appropiate care because of the expenses. Please have your annual checkups in can save your life!
