BENEFITING: LEARNING WORKS FOUNDATION INC
Many school districts have one, and usually only one, student with an interest in meteorology. Most parents, guidance counselors , and teachers don't know how to help grow this passion for one of the most important STEM fields. Unsure of the importance of weather and climate, consider weather and climate impacts on people, infrastructure, food supply, transportation and more. The National Weather Camp Program, currently in its second decade, has helped transform the lives of many future scientists by providing them camp and after camp experiences, including attendance at National Weather Conferences, mentoring support, and opportunities to conduct scientific research studies at a young age. The camp program has mushroomed from just a few sites in the 2000’s to more than a dozen sites in 2015. There are at least 4 additional sites under development. To date, these camps have been the beneficiaries of some limited governmental and university support. However, as the program has grown, resources available have not been able to keep pace. Hence, we are looking for some support from individuals, companies and organizations that can help us help these young scientists. In advance, thank you for any donation that you provide. H.
