Higher Education for Young Leaders in Burma
Organized by: Julia Park
The English Immersion Program (EIP) is a program that inspires and develops young adults from Burma to become active leaders within Burma. The program was established in 2003 and aims to teach students how to address local challenges in development through exploring issues around cross-cultural communications, diversity and conflict resolution. Students go on to become active leaders in the community who demonstrate tenacity, strength and determination.
EIP was originally located in Umpiem refugee camp along the Thai/Myanmar border. This year is our first year to return to Burma to prepare and develop a community for the influx of ethnic groups also returning. EIP strives to heighten student awareness on issues inside Burma and to empower them to sustainably redevelop their country. Join us to give the next cohort of talented and enthusiastic youth an opportunity to bring about change.
