Growing up in Keta a rural community in the Volta Region of Ghana there was nothing of social nature for children to develop social and interactive skills apart from when their parents visit other families/friends fortunately if they have kids; you get to play with them till your parents are ready to go. Sometimes my parents will visit some friends who do not have kids; the most unpleasant feeling ever. Even the times we get to play the play area is restricted with no much activity, even toys were scarce. 20years later, I was opportune to visit several surrounding communities of Keta to carry out my college project "relationship between proximity to the sea and the nutritional status of children under five(5yrs)" I realised that the problem of childhood socialisation and child development was the same in these other communities too. Even though a many international organisations have undertaken projects to reduce poverty and hunger, improve nutritional status and overall health of children under the age of 5years nothing has been said or done to promote the social and psychological development of the children. I therefore created this account to help build a community playground, accessible to all kids regardless of their background to play and good childhood memories. I realised I couldn't achieve this with the little I have but I could do more with the support of every individual/child who is proud of their childhood and is willing to help give children in Keta same wonderful childhood memories. Let's not deprive children in rural communities beautiful childhood memories. Let's make childhood fun for kids in Keta.
