The Navajo Healthcare Project is designed to bring culturally sensitive and compatible wholistic healthcare to people with limited resources living in Crystal, NM and its neighboring communities at no cost to them.
Our immediate plan is to return to Crystal twice a year (April and October) in 2011 and 2012 to continue to provide ongoing healthcare. As part of this 2-year pilot project we also plan to encourage one or more members of the community to learn Tuina, CranioSacral Therapy, and Qigong and to promote the development of a local, professional practice in order to provide long term sustainable healthcare and professional development within the community.
1) To offer comprehensive, therapeutic, traditional medicine treatments at no cost to the people in the Crystal, NM and neighboring communities who have limited resources available to them and suffer from economic hardship.
2) To provide culturally sensitive and compatible traditional healthcare which is performed in a safe and healthy environment that is supportive of traditional Navajo practices and lifeways.
3) To promote and fund education in CranioSacral Therapy & Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to local Navajo community members interested in a career in these healing arts.
4) A long term goal is to support the establishment of a local clinic for ongoing wholistic, traditional healthcare clinic integrating traditional Navajo medicine, CranioSacral Therapy, and Chinese medicine that is run by members of the local Navajo community.
