BENEFITING: NAYELI FAITH FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Jul 27, 2014
I want to thank all of those who have expressed well wishes for my upcoming marathon and who have contributed towards Nayeli Faith Foundation (NFF).
Your generous donation will benefit children (and their families) diagnosed with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). This terrible condition occurs in 1 of 2500 live births and has a 50% survival rate. Basically, prior to birth, the child’s diaphragm does not seal and this allows the stomach contents to travel into the chest, crushing the lungs and displacing the heart. NFF assists with lodging, gas cards, food cards, payment of medical bills, payment for funeral expenses, and transportation payment of families lost children (to the defect) to wherever their home State may be. The Foundation also provides financial support to the UCSF research clinic/program annually.
Those of you wanting to track my progress, I start at 05:42 hours, running under bib number 31212. I began training inspiring to run one of the more difficult marathons in the world between 3:55 - 4:05; however, due to a recent foot injury I will be satisfied with 4:10. I just remind myself, the pain I expect to experience during the run is nothing compared to what these children must go through.
I also want to thank my supportive wife who puts up with my training, prepares my diet, and puts up with my moods...thanks babe! That said, off I go and prey I don’t get a flat tire:-)
