In China, orphanages are often overburdened, understaffed, and underfunded. As a result of the one-child policies and other social issues, many of the orphans are girls and also disabled/ill. The Half the Sky foundation, now partnered with the Chinese governments' Blue Sky plan, works to raise living standards for Chinese orphans and provide quality healthcare, childcare, and mentoring programs.
As members of the National Chinese Honor Society, it is our duty to raise awareness of issues relating to China and to teach our local area about Chinese culture. We have started a fundraiser in order to donate money to the Half the Sky orphanages because we believe it is our responsibility as NCHS members to reach out to China. We hope you can donate to help us reach our goal of $350. Any amount will help!
