BENEFITING: Phelan McDermid Syndrome Foundation

The Newport Coast MOMS Club is helping the Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation charity this year. It is a non-profit organization helping children born with a severe form of autism called Phelan-McDermid Syndrome. Phelan-McDermid Syndrome (“PMD”) is a genetic syndrome associated with autism and can affect development of organs such as the brain, heart kidney and other organs. Its most important role is in the brain and brain development, for memory and learning. Most children affected with PMD have a range of developmental delays, and many do not ever develop functional language skills. One of our moms has a child diagnosed with this disorder, making this charity even more near and dear to us.
