Hi Friends and Family,
we're currently volunteering for the amazing project of a NGO called Niños de Guatemala. Since 2006, Niños de Guatemala provides underprivileged children with an education and so far has built three schools closeby Antigua in Guatemala.
Going to school really can't be taken for granted in Guatemala - 30% of all children do not finish first grade and not even 40% continue school after primary education.
All of the children in the NGO's programs don't just receive education from preschool through to at least sixth grade but also medical and dental care, instruction on proper health and hygiene, sexual education, and access to the on-site social work and psychology departments.
For us, it is amazing to see how the kids appreciate the chance of a good education and how hard they try to make the most of it.
Everything is so well-organized already and lots of the kids seem to have so much potential that we really want to do our part to help keep the organization running.
We're not only being much needed helping hands in class at one of the schools right now but also trying to fundraise $500 as these can go a very long way in Guatemala.
$125 - buys materials for all of our programs (educational and wrap-around) for one student for a year
$15 - feeds a student for a month
$25 - provides safe drinking water for 429 students for a month
$20 - English Classes for one student for one year
$75 - buys materials for social work and psychology across all of our schools for a month
Isn't that incredible?
We assure you all money raised goes directly towards the support of the schools and projects, and will aid immensely in the development and the future of the organization and therefore, the kids.
It is one thing to build a school. It is another to keep it running. Niños de Guatemala relies solely on donations to keep all of the 470+ children in school, equipped with all their school supplies and with full bellies. They also pay all their teachers fair salaries and ensure that the school is kept clean and cared for. Every little bit helps when providing these children a quality education.
Thanks a lot for your support, it is greatly appreciated - by us as well as by the kids!
