Neang 500 campaign" To fund Neang Smalls college tuition. A young woman who grew up in an orphanage and is still there working in exchange for shelter and food.
I met Neang who grew up in the very orphanage she works in cooking the most beautifully laid out and incredibly good tasting food. I asked her what was her dream? And she replied to one day own her own restaurant. But she couldn't afford to finish college to get her business degree.
The beautiful thing about Neang is that I never once saw her complain as she worked diligently cooking 3 meals a day, cleaning, and teaching the kids. I never once saw her leave the orphanage nor had she ever even been inside of a real grocery store, never had a phone, or even a real pair of shoes.
I told her I wanted to help her and immediately she bursts in to tears crying out that "no ever thinks about me... thank you , thank you so much." In that moment I realized how under appreciated she was and felt. She just needed a chance. One that cost the same amount of someones car payment or electricity bill. So I thought why not help give someone a chance to be great, so that she can get the education she needs to change her entire life. And that's what the #wethrivemovement is all about. Making a difference big or small.
