In March 2012 my life was turned upside down after being exposed to something very toxic at a hotel in Columbus, Ohio. Within a week of checking in I was taken by ambulance to hospitals multiple times with symptoms of severe toxic mold exposure.
After 4 months of repeated hospital admissions & ER visits in Ohio (over $200,000 in medical bills) I sought assistance from a biotoxin specialist in Chicago in August 2012 and relocated to the Chicago area.
Lab tests done in Chicago showed that I was genetically susceptible to toxic mold/biotoxins and I had been severely poisoned. I still suffer from chronic infections, severe pain and overwhelming fatigue. I am still very limited in my day to day activities, especially standing & walking and my lab tests haven't improved since 2012. My medical bills continue to accumulate and they exceed my income most months.
Because my condition failed to improve my Chicago specialist insisted that I move out of my apt because my symptoms were consistent with ongoing exposure to biotoxins. Since that time (April 2014) I have not been able to find a place to live that does not trigger severe, even life threatening, reactions. So, I've spent about 2 years living out of a suitcase -- searching for a safe place to live.
I spent some time staying with my mother and I seemed to do better at my Mom's (despite also needing to recover from the car accident injuries - my car was totaled Feb 2015 by drunk driver running red light).
Due to family circumstances I had to leave my Mom's in November last year while still very sick & dealing with injuries. I found potential housing in Michigan City at the newly rehabbed Artspace Lofts.
I applied in December 2015 and my application is *approved* but still winding it's way thru their process. While waiting to be approved I'm trying to raise money to pay for deposit, first months rent, moving expenses and furniture. (Everything that I owned that was exposed to the toxic substance had to be thrown away and replaced.)
It's down to the wire now, and I have to come up with the apartment deposit by this week . About $1000 for first month's rent & deposit. If I don't I will lose the apt and end up on a waiting list.
I really agonized over creating this fundraiser, but it just came down to not having any other options. Any donation will be appreciated. Even $1.
It's been hard to keep going being so sick and not improving. But I still have hope. There a still a few potential options for treatment and I haven't given up yet. But it's getting so hard trying to manage by myself. I would really appreciate some support from family and friends.... Thank you.....
