Stuff About Me:

About My Campaign

Center for Neighborhood Improvement Initiative is a tax exempt 501(c) (3) all volunteer women’s non-profit charitable organization. We are dedicated to advancing or improving the health, rights and economic independence of women in rural West African communities, starting with Nigeria. Donations to the organization are tax deductible under IRS code 170. The organization’s fund raising activities for the women are:

CLEAN WATER PROJECTS: Clean water addresses the majority of the United Nation's (UN's) millennium Development Goals, because water affects all facets of life. In African societies, women and young girls are often responsible for fetching, albeit dirty water accumulated in ponds from rainfalls. Access to clean water from streams usually far away, is a task that sometimes takes much of the day. Clean water wells within a reasonable walk will allow them to attend school or focus on more productive endeavors. Clean water is very important to meet basic hygiene and proper sanitary requirements to safeguard their health, help in the eradication of rampant, deadly water borne diseases such as, dysentery, typhoid fever, polio, cholera, brainerd diarrhea, and high mother/infant mortality rates. The cost of construction of a clean water well to serve thousands of families is under $4,000.

ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE PROJECTS: The majority of women in African communities have for long been marginalized, neglected and live in abject poverty. This organization provides education and training to these women in the following fields: modern agricultural processes, commercial hair braiding, commercial clothes sewing and commercial basket weaving. Completion of the training will translate to the women's economic independence and the curbing of hunger, especially among children.

TRANSPARENCY: Since we are an all volunteer Initiative, officers, trustees, and members of the organization receive no compensation of any sorts. One hundred percent (100%) of the funds raised go directly to the implementation of the organization's projects or activities, for the benefit of poor women in rural communities. There are no administrative or professional fees (no overhead costs).

OUR PLEDGE: At any time of their choosing, donors to the organization have the right to the following: (1) Access to the organization's constitution or by-laws. (2) Knowledge of how exactly their donations are spent, and for what they are spent. (3) View, review, inspect, and obtain information about any or all of the organization's projects and their locations. (4) Proof in any desired form, of the existence of the organization's projects or activities. (5) Review or audit the organization's books or financial statements. (6) Request and receive information about the organization’s status from the I.R.S.

Any amount of donations received is guaranteed to make a difference. Thank you for caring.
