Help us celebrate Neil Reich's life and passions by sponsoring our team in the Five Borough Bike Tour. Your donation will honor his spirit by helping an ESL student pay for college.
Why the 5 Borough Bike Tour?
Neil was an avid biker. He would bike to work, despite cold or rain. With his bike and his bright orange reflector vest, he was staple in our Queens neighborhood. As a native New Yorker, Neil was also passionate about his city. He loved exploring neighborhoods he had never been to, and was always able to find historic sites which most New Yorkers didn't know existed. The Five Borough Bike Tour combines two of my Neil's passions- biking and the city of New York. Each year, he looked forward to riding in the Tour. The photos taken of us with our bikes at the festival in Fort Wadsworth Park with the Verrezano bridge in the background sit proudly framed on the mantel in our home.
Tragically, Neil died in a sudden accident in July. He died doing one of the things he loved doing most- riding his bike- when a sudden storm caused a tree to fall on him, killing him instantly.
Shortly after he died, Neil's friends and family had the idea of assembling a team of family and friends to do the ride together in his honor this year. It seems right to us to be able to honor his memory by participating together in an event which he held so near and dear to his heart.
