Office boy's house in Nepal
Organized by: Rustum Khawaja
An office boy, working on the floor that I work sends back just under 40% of his monthly salary home for his mother, father, wife and daughter. He has been building and maintaing a home in Nepal for the last 5 years and after last week's earthquake his house was demolished. His family all survived (as they were all working and not in the house that was destroyed).
Having not had a conversation more than 2 minutes prior, I spoke to him in his native language and he started getting emotional telling me, though I barely know him. To work in a country like Qatar, alone is not easy- but to save 40% of your salary for the family that you can only see once every 2(?) years is even more difficult. Add saving up for 5 years that gets demolished after an earth quake, and you are in this guys shoes.
I'll put a picture up of him tomorrow (along with a more accurate figure of how often he can go home)
