Nepal Disaster Relief Volunteer Trip
Organized by: Marion Philippe
EVENT DATE Mar 26, 2016
In March 2016, I will be heading to the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal to rebuild schools that were destroyed in the April 2015 Earthquake. Over the course of my two years in college, I have come to realize that working with kids is my passion. They are energetic, sweet, full of life, and willing to explore. However, in order for the kids to have the ability to grow into critical thinkers, to mature into educated beings, they need a safe place to learn. From exploring the playground to concentrating on their math homework to creating stories to allow their imaginations to run wild, they need a school. Therefore, for six weeks, I will be working alongside volunteers from around the world trying to give these kids the safe-haven that they lost, hoping to give them the opportunity of getting the education they need to grow. I am therefore asking you for your help to give these children a hand. This reconstruction project will not only help the children but will allow me to have a different perspective of the world. From embracing the different lifestyle to witnessing the hardships of the world, I hope this volunteer trip will shape me into a more open-minded and appreciative individual. I hope to learn how to embrace the simplicities of life and how much giving a hand can impact more than just the people being helped. Please, consider donating because you are not only assisting me in getting to Nepal, but you are also aiding Nepal’s children. I can promise you the money that you give will make a difference because it will directly send me to Nepal, where my work will be a representation of your generosity and willingness to help. My plan is to post weekly blog posts with pictures to show the process and progress of reconstruction. Please, allow them to have the chance that we have! Thank you!
