BENEFITING: American Red Cross
Nepal and surrounding areas suffered a 7.8 magnitude earthquake on April 25, 2015 and a 7.3 magnitude earthquake two weeks later on May 12, 2015. As of April 29, 2015 the death toll was more than 7,000. More than 30% of the people in Nepal live on less than US $14 per month. For many of us fortunate Americans, we could never fathom what it means to live off such a small amount. As we are fortunate, we are also in a position of responsibility to help those who are struggling.
Nepal is in immediate need of food, blankets, medical supplies, and other essentials. While sending these physical items is a nice idea, money gets to Nepal much faster because it doesn’t have to go through the unpredictable and lengthy journey of traveling mail. Donating money online to the American Red Cross, based in Nepal, will ensure the money reaches those who really need it, before it’s too late.
