Nepal Earthquake Fund 2015
Organized by: Archana Bhandari, Rupesh Pradhan
Update: We have so far raised slightly over 46K between this site and other pledges we have collected. We are only 4K far from our goal of raising 50K! Thank you for your generous support.
Thank you for the overwhelming concern and kindness you have shown towards our family’s safety in Nepal following this weekend’s devastating earthquake. We have been in touch with our immediate friends and family, and very thankful, that they are all safe.
However, the news from Nepal is devastating. More than 5500 people have lost their lives so far and the number continues to rise. Tens of thousands have been injured. Many more have lost their homes and have been forced to camp out in open space in makeshift tents. Rescuers and relief agencies still have not been able to reach many of the more remote parts of Nepal yet.
Many of the beautiful historic and cultural sites for which Kathmandu is renowned also lie in rubbles. The devastation in the old neighborhoods where we grew up has been heartbreaking.
As you may know, Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world with most people living on less than $3 a day. You can imagine how incredible the strain on resources caused by a natural disaster such as this imposes. We would like you to help us raise emergency relief funds to assist those who have been hit by this earthquake. We are pledging $10,000 in matching funds.
We will donate the raised funds to a local Minnesota organization, the Association of Nepalese in Minnesota (ANMN), for proper onward disbursement. ANMN will be channeling 100% of these funds to the Nepal Red Cross Society and other relief agencies on the ground.
ANMN is a non-profit 501(c) organization, and all donations you make will be tax deductible. http://www.anmn.org/
Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. And we truly appreciate your generosity.
Archana and Rupesh
(Rupesh's colleagues from Logic, please donate via this page. The donations will be channeled the same way, but you will be able to take advantage of your employer match. Thank you Logic!)
