Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund - Gelbaugh and Shrestha Family
Organized by: Niley Shrestha
Event Name: Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund
In the wake of the terrible earthquake in my homeland of Nepal, I have been overwhelmed by support from friends representing every facet and every stage of my life. Many of you have asked me how you can help. I heard your question, and with deep gratitude I built this platform in response, so that I can help direct your donations to the two organizations I trust the most. Any amount you donate will have direct impact on the ground.
In addition, my friends, artists Sean and Dawn Gelbaugh are releasing a limited edition of 11x14 images on this page for sale. These were taken by them on a recent visit to Nepal. Many of these historic structures have been destroyed and are now gone forever. The limited edition series of prints will be numbered and signed by the artist. Only 10 prints will be available of each image. They are offered at $250 each or the entire series of 5 for a $1000 dollar donation. 100% of the proceeds will be donated for this cause.
All funds will be split evenly between these two organizations(funds):
Ama Ghar Community Earthquake Relief Fund
I was on the Board of Ama Foundation (http://www.ama-foundation.org) that supported Ama Ghar Orphanage for 10 years. Transparency and low operational costs were two top mandates. The orphange building survived the earthquake but there has been lots of destruction nearby. Ironically, the orphange is an anchor of this village now and they will use these funds to provide food, water, shelter and medical needs. Long term they will help build back their community.
Sahayeta Nepal Earthquake 2015 Relief Effort Fund
Sahayeta (means help in Nepali) was founded by Nisha Thapa in 2008 to facilitate integration of Himalayan immigrants into American society. Based in the SF Bay Area, Sahayeta (http://www.sahayeta.org/) is highly regarded by Nepalis. Nisha, who is a family nurse practitioner, is leaving for Nepal with a team. In Nepal, she will collaborate with mostly youth led grass root organizations.
