VIN project sites are most affected area and badly damaged by earthquake. Post disaster statistics has shown that about 900 houses and 6 schools are damaged, 9 people are killed and 15 people are injured in Jitpur. About 553 houses from three VDCs and 6 schools are damaged and no cases of casualties and injured in Okhaldhunga. About 1500 houses and 8 schools are damaged, 10 people are killed and more than 15 people are injured in Okharpauwa.
We would like to construct a safe transitional home for each affected families and construct a temporary learning classroom for children to go to school. These facilities will serve as transition between now and the new permanent ones.
We need to raise over 300,000 USD to facilitate this case but we would like to raise 25,000USD via crowdrise. You may donate any amount you like.
We have been providing relief service from the next day of the earthquake. Major activities for Rapid response are formulated as follows.

Aware on hygiene and sanitation and support soaps
Aware to purify water Spread disinfectant in surrounding environment
Aware people about diarrhoeal diseases and epidemic of infectious diseases.

Continue medical team duties in health post
Fill the gap between relief material distribution to people from government and other organizations.
1. Health camps in communities: VIN medical team with Danish emergency nurses conducted medical camps in Jitpur and Okharpauwa from 17th to 31st May. It was conducted in seven villages of Jitpur and Jalkini of Okharpauwa. Altogether 553 patients and earthquake victims were benefited from the camps. The medical team worked in Tinpipple health post for 5 days. There were 141 patients benefited from the clinic. Altogether 694 patients were benefited from the camps conducted by VIN.
2. Build Temporary shelter (TS) VIN is supporting to build temporary shelters in communities. It has started the project from 22nd may after 2 days training to volunteers and mason. First two days training was conducted to 29 volunteers and 9 masons. The training was about volunteerism, concept of temporary shelter, team work, communication, safety and first aid. A group of engineer produced a design for TS and gave a presentation to volunteers and mason about it.
3. Children camps VIN has organized children camps in Jitpur. It was targeted to children of 5-13 years age group from Jitpur who were suffered from earth quake and has no schools. It was plan to engage children in fun and life skills activities to come out from the fear of earthquake and after shock. A French volunteer Sarah and local volunteers hosted a camp for 15 days. There were 150 children in the camps.
Children were found happy to be in camps. It has supported them to calm down the fear of EQ and after shock. Also they got opportunity to learn skills like art and dancing. Altogether 9 groups with a mason and 3 volunteers in each group have started building temporary shelter in Jitpur. It was targeted to support in 300 households.
VIN has managed materials (Jasta, nail and binding wire) support to 46 houses. It has a plan to support rest of the families with skilled manpower and materials.
