Rural Relief for Nepal Earthquake

We've been in close communication with our partners and friends in Nepal and one of us is currently in the country. We've found that grassroots efforts are more effective, as supplies are allocated optimally and all of our contacts on the ground are local volunteers with backgrounds in aid work. International aid still appears scarce, but considering the magnitude of this catastrophe it's not surprising. We have a Nepalese friend flying out on Monday, 5/4 from Minnesota. We will be sending water purification tablets, first aid kits and plastic tarps for shelter in this first round. These are the most critical materials at this point.
The supplies collected will be distributed to individuals and organizations on the ground in Sindupalchowk, Dhading, Kavre, and Lamjung districts. Transportation from Kathmandu is being mobilized and will be delivering supplies directly to those in need. The villages are devastated and have little access to services and assistance-- even less than Kathmandu.
Additional money raised will go to the longer term rebuilding efforts in rural regions where thousands have been displaced.
We appreciate your assistance and concern.
