Nepal Needs Now
Organized by: Anjee Thapa
Event Name: Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund
All donations no matter how small or big are welcome. $10, $20, $50......
Why we started this fund?
We started this campaign because for the last few days we were thinking we were powerless to help our families and neighbors in Nepal.
However, hearing about the about the terrifying number of aftershocks and the daily struggle to survive meant that we had to do something.
Thanks to the outpouring of concern and offers of assistance from our friends in the US, we were encouraged to start this fund and make a tangible difference to the lives of our loved ones so far away.
On Saturday 4/25 a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit central Nepal. There are more than 7,912 confirmed dead with estimates that the actual count could be more than 10,000. The earthquake leveled much of the capital Katmandu, as well the surrounding areas, while more than 50 aftershocks have caused further damage and agony.
Nearly everyone in the quake zone was living outside in the streets and fields, unprotected from the spring rains that fell early last week. People are helping each other, but food and basic necessities are in short supply and looters have already begun to prey on the survivors.
Aid is beginning to arrive, but it has been focused on Katmandu. The outlying areas where our families live are struggling to survive.
How are we going to make difference?
Our focus is simple. We will start with our family and neighbors first, targeting the areas of Ramkot, Bhimdhunga and New Baneshwor .
Scarcities of food and medicine have driven up the prices such that they are out of reach of many our loved ones.
As such, we will use our local connections and direct monetary assistance to provide them the basics they need, such as rice, noodles. salt, vegetables and a safe place to stay.
Our goal is to keep them safe and healthy until international aid organizations arrive or until we relocate them somewhere more stable.
Your assistance will directly impact the lives of our parents, brothers, sisters, and friends so that they can better meet the challenges ahead. We will ensure that 100% of this donation will go to victims and will post our expenses.
Thank you in advance for anything you can contribute. We are touched and grateful for your prayers and concern.
