Nepal Relief Trip

In March I'll be heading over to Nuwakot, Nepal for a month. I'm traveling there to work with All Hands, a disaster relief organization based out of Boston that has been coordinating groups of local and residential volunteers to assist the people of Nepal since the devastating earthquakes last spring. The organization has been doing demo work, removing rubble, and building transitional shelters and new homes and temporary learning centers for children. Over 25,000 classrooms were destroyed during the earthquakes in April and All Hands is reconstructing schools in the Nuwakot district to give children a space to continue learning. I'm really excited to find an organization that meets my expectations for what a relief organization should look like. As a skeptic of volunteer projects that benefit primarily the visitor, I can say I really believe in what this group is doing, and I'm excited to find a space where I feel I'll be able to contribute something. All Hands organizes on-the-ground teams of volunteers to responsibly participate in full weeks and months of project-based work. In addition to the hands-on labor I'll be able to offer, I'd love to come with something else for the project too. I'm funding my own travel and everything else personally involved, but I have an opportunity to carry necessary supplies on my back that aren't readily available at the project site. All Hands has a wish list: with everything from rehandling supplies to construction paper. I'm going to stuff as many of these things as I can into an extra backpack- JUST WATCH ME- and I'd love your help funding them! If there's anything special you'd like to contribute, just let me know when you make your donation. There are tons of other items NOT on that list that require funding as well (food to feed me and other volunteers in the field, wheelbarrows, chainsawz, etc). I will put money that I do not spend on the above wish-list items, directly towards the organization via their fundraising site. I'll be taking pictures and insta-ing at the still-relevantly titled: @handlerchrissie (Did you know I have a smartphone and can do that now??) Thank you for anything you can give. I know these campaigns can pop up all over, and they aren't always the most fun things to read about, so I appreciate you even having a look and knowing what I'm up to! <3
