HELP BUILD SAFE LEARNING SPACES FOR NEPALI CHILDREN
"One book, one pen, one child and one teacher can change the world" - Malala Yousafzai
In 2015, Nepal suffered a series of earthquakes that impacted large areas of the country. Although our mission remains focused on education, we provided immediate relief with medecine, hygienic materials, and housing support using our local network and on-the-ground team.
But the effort for Nepal recovery continues...and you can be part of it.
Thanks to the donations from all over the world, we were able to help families in various regions in Nepal. In addition to the immediate relief, we have several long term strategies for helping the communities we work with recover. On Crowdrise, we are helping some of the schools where we send scholarship girls build safe learning spaces after the earthquake. We hope that you'll join us in our rebuilding efforts, and continue to support our educational mission in helping educate girls in Nepal to realize their dreams.
Most communities in Nepal came together to make their school facilities operational again (sometimes barely), after the earthquakes. SOme of our schools were completely destroyed and even schools that had minimal savings or plans for important additions (for libraries and computers) were lost and left structurally unsound when the earthquakes hit. These communities have so little and have lost so much.
This is where we can make a difference by building safe spaces for children to learn and filling them with educational supplies for teachers and students. Imagine, books to feed their minds and imaginations, notebooks and pencils for them to work, maps to see the world, flash cards, a microscope or telescope, and computers to build skills. These resources will not only help the girls in our scholarship program but the community and children as a whole. By electing to support one of these rooms, you can develop a space that will have a lasting impact on the children in the school and the village they live in. Please consider leaving a legacy of education.
Our team in Nepal will work to ensure that each school's specific needs are addressed, and ENG will use a portion of the remaining relief funds to help supplement the rooms with the appropriate materials.
We are excited for all of us to be part of a concrete (literally) part of the rebuild effort for Nepal while contining to support our mission of educating young women in Nepal in an effort to promote gender equality and opportunity.
