BENEFITING: FRIENDS WITHOUT A BORDER
EVENT DATE: Jul 04, 2015
It's a BIG birthday! I'm celebrating this milestone by raising funds for children's health care in Cambodia & Laos.
Many of you might know that I'm on the Board of Directors for Friends Without A Border, a non-profit dedicated to providing medical care to children in SE Asia. We recently celebrated opening our second children's hospital - Lao Friends Hospital for Children - in Luang Prabang, Laos.
The doctors and nurses at the hospital are already doing a tremendous job and, in addition to treating 50-60 children each day in the outpatient department, are working hard to open the rest of the hospital departments to make it the only full-service hospital outside the country's capital.
I am showing support by asking all my friends, family and colleagues to make a donation to the hospital as a birthday gift.
It costs less than $20(!) to treat one child in the outpatient department so every gift counts.
Here's a few other ways your gift can make a difference:
-->$50 can provide 384 cartoon themed bandages
-->$75 can provide medicine for 55 children
-->$250 can provide treatment for 10 children in the Outpatient Department
-->$500 can provide the staff with 10 stethoscopes
This year, the 4th of July fireworks will be on the East River, between 23rd and 59th streets, starting at 9:20 p.m., and will be in perfect view from my apartment. Please come celebrate with me, we will have champagne, wine, and food. My apartment is located at 22 N. 6th Street, #7D, Brooklyn, NY (take the L train to Bedford). Traffic control will be in effect so please come as early as you'd like so you don't get stuck.
