This award will honor Nesta Gallas, ASPA's first women president and acknowledged leader in the field of Public Administration. The award recipient chosen, emulating Nesta, will be a PIONEER in their respective field and will have evidenced cutting-edge actions focusing on the advancement of creative Ethical and/or International Strategies.
When I talked with Nesta Gallas in California, she was
humbled and thrilled about the neat actions being taken in her honor. Help from each of you is needed to begin this journey together. There are two actions you can take immediately :
1) Please send any pictures, thoughts, ideas, actions about Nesta Gallas from her time at John Jay, the U.N. and Hawaii or other locations you know her from.
2) Appreciated would be a brief professional and/or personal statement from each of you as to your thoughts about Nesta Gallas.
This pioneering woman is Professor Emerita of Public Administration, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York. She was the former Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, and Professor and Chair, Department of Government, History and Economics at John Jay College.Nesta also served as Public Administration Adviser, Division of Public Administration, U.N. Department of Economic and Social Affairs, as well as Personnel Director, City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii, Department of Civil Service.
