Hello, my name is Audrey Kasande. I’m an Economics & Geography teacher at the Secondary School at Nakivale Refugee Settlement, and I also coach the girls’ volleyball and netball teams.
Our school’s idea is to make our school the sports headquarters of Nakivale settlement – by having fields and courts that all meet international standards and welcoming the community to use them. Since I’m a coach, my idea is to have our netball and volleyball courts redone so that they are up to standards.
Right now it’s difficult to play on our courts. The volleyball courts are built on the side of a hill and aren’t level. It can actually be dangerous, and sometimes students get hurt playing. If our teams want to play other schools, we always have to leave and play at those schools. No one will visit our school and play here because our courts are so bad.
I would be so happy if this could happen AND if we could get some more balls and a first aid kit for when our students do get injured playing.
