EVENT DATE: Jun 17, 2013
1+One is all about raising awareness and disseminating education on relevant issues to encourage individual responsibility. With that said, as the Founder, I like to think and make others think, in an effort to keep our minds and hearts open for a better world.
Quite frankly -- homelessness SUCKS! Food in our bellies, a roof over our heads, and clothes on our back are essential human needs that cannot be ignored in general. While we all have to struggle in this world for what we want and need, that struggle becomes all the more difficult when you can't even fulfill those needs to save yourself in the meantime. Children go to school malnourished, adults become weak and discouraged, and the downward cycle continues with no hope when depression takes its place. Outside of physical needs, does anyone even care about their feelings and actual plight??
1+One supports eyeBLINK's (501c3 registered charity) project: A Slice of Hope as they throw pizza parties all over the country for one week a year in unity with other organizations. This year A Slice of Hope will take place from June 16th to June 22nd. The goal is to create a joyful event for people undergoing tough times while underscoring the problem of hunger and the cycle of homelessness in America. Additionally, A Slice of Hope is also a celebration of the best in humanity as people from all walks of life, races, religions and economic strata come together to help the less fortunate during this week. Our combined hope and strength energizes the donors as well as the recipients. Their mission: to raise joy, hope, and optimism for these people -- THEY CARE AND SO DO I.... You can see for yourself at www.asliceofhope.org.
With that said, 1+One will be organizing a pizza party in just a few weeks at St. John's Bread & Life, who bring food and assistance to the poor and accompany them on their journey to wholeness by providing necessary services. You can check out their full Mission at www.breadandlife.org.
I don't want to bore you, I'm simply trying to provide you with an opportunity. If you are in a position to help, this is your chance to go above and beyond -- not just to help feed these people, but give them something more -- fulfilling their physical, mental, AND spiritual needs.
1+One isn't just fundraising either -- if you or someone you know would like to volunteer and be an extra hand on the day of the event -- the human effort is truly appreciated and celebrated! 1+One is humanitarian overall, and the human contribution or lack thereof is the only thing that is making and breaking this world. Who doesn't want a better world??...
...So let's "BE the change we want to see in the world." ;)
Yours truly & sincerely,
