BENEFITING: COMMONWEALTH CAT RESCUE INC
Last week, I was browsing local shelter's website for the dogs they had there. I saw a pit bull, Pucci that I LOVED! (she looked JUST like the brown & white dog in the picture) So a couple days later, I went in to say hello. There she was, wagging her tail, trying to poke her nose through the cage the check me out. I wanted to take her home and squeeze her and lover her forever, but living in a small apartment, I knew i couldnt give her the space she needed. So I told her Id be back again and left. I went in again, a week later, to see how she was and hopefully get to take her out and play with her and love on her. I went up and down the rows of kennels, praying that I wasnt seeing her because she was outside. But no dice. All the kennels were full.
I went to the front desk and explained who I was looking for. The girl said "Pucci?" I nodded, psyched that she knew who I was referring to. "She was pulled." No emotion, no "oh, Im so sorry to tell you this..."
"Pulled" means she was killed because a newer model arrived and they needed space.
As I tried to process what she was saying, I was trying to find out who was next? Which dogs need to be adopted now because they've been here too long? But I must have been mumbling, becuse she just said " What? Be more direct!" I just gave her the hand and walked away. I cried on the way home, because I new what had happened to Pucci happens to millions of other dogs and cats every day. Not just old, sick dogs are put down. Puppies, kittens, any animal that hasnt been adopted within a certain number of days is euthanized to make room for the never-ending stream of unwanted pets.
By spaying or neutering these 10 pets, Im hoping to give someone elses' puppies or kittens a chance to be adopted. Can you help?
The money raised will be donated to a local rescue group in northern VA
