Never quit, always forward

I am currently looking for help while I am treated for an injury, and help getting us through while I try to write a book. I have had several major impediments placed in my way, but I keep going forward and refusing to quit. Back in 2010 I broke my back. I managed to separate my tailbone from my spine and it required surgery to repair the damage. I was left with a 13 inch scar, 4 titanium screws and a cage, and constant pain in my lumbar spine area due to the muscles having being cut through and arthritis settling in to the surgery area. Once the physical therapy was done I had my doctor and physical therapist urging me to claim social security disability, but I refused. I was hurt, slowed down, but not crippled. I went back to working as a school bus driver (making less than I would have on disability, but I was working and happy) and I attended school to obtain my associates degree in medical records. I obtained the degree in November, and then the next January I had another injury to my back and hip that left me physically unable to perform any of the jobs I have the training or qualifications to do. It was a work related injury, but ultimately because of bad luck (my doctor retired and moved out of state in between court dates, with no warning, and his records were not enough for the judge. His testimony in court was needed) I lost the workman's comp case and have been left with the injury being untreated, and being unable to go back to work. I have been a very avid reader my whole life and flirted with the idea of writing a book over the years, and in my current situation this seems the perfect solution to my problems. I can work for myself writing and still pull in an income (eventually). My wife and I tried to apply for public assistance to help cover the expenses while I am down writing, but they determined she makes too much money at her job by $200 a month. She isn't able to cut her hours with her employer, she tried, and they said that she is needed to much to allow that large a reduction. If she did that they would simply replace her with someone else. So now we are stuck in a situation where we cannot receive any aid, but we are far from able to cover all the bills and still get me the medical treatment I need to try and get my back and hip treated. I am not able to find a job that will provide any income now when we need it. I am working on the book, and have been told by several people that it is good, but that is no guarantee to make me anything at all, let alone anytime soon. Any assistance would be appreciated and will help us to get through this very rough time in our lives.
