BENEFITING: Camden County Women's Center/NJAC
As always coming upon the #GivingSeason, we all remember all that we have to give thanks for. We give thanks surrounded by family and friends, go home to a safe living environment, sometimes with tons of leftovers, and wake-up the next day not having to worry about struggling without all that we are thankful for. Unfortunately, for victims of domestic violence, this is not the happy holiday many of us are used to. A central part of giving thanks is giving back.
1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience domestic violence at the hands of someone that claims to love them.
At Camden County Women's Center, we want to show you that there is something you can do about it. We have some of the highest rates of domestic violence in the State of New Jersey. We are co-located in a city that is named one of the most dangerous citites in America. We need to expand our services and give survivors a voice.
By joining us as we participate in the Purple Purse Challenge, you can help us to end domestic violence by helping us participate through the Crowdrise system. Your support assists women, men and children who have escaped violent homes in the following ways: $10 donation provides diapers or wipes to a parent in our program. $25 donation provides personal care items and other essentials for a family. $50 donation provides a night of shelter at our safe house. $75 donation provides legal advocacy to obtain one restraining order or helps someone to navigate the criminal justice system. $100 donation provides a month of individual counseling for a victim to get safe, stay safe, and thrive. $150 donation sets up a support group for 5 victims of domestic violence. $500 donation allows us to continue to provide Financial Empowerment Workshops all year round for 20 survivors needing to understand their credit, financing options, and budgeting necessitites. Join us in this effort today.
