THE STORY:

Hello, My mother has no idea I am doing this for her. She will NEVER admit she needs help! Which is why I am asking for her. Here is what has happened: My mom lost her right leg, just below her knee, about 15 years ago. It was caused by a bone infection that the doctors were unable to locate until her leg was removed (her choice not theirs). She has been through a lot with weight gain and trying to lose it again and depression. Recently she got a very severe staph infection in her stump, that was caused by a sore because her prosthetic hadn't been fitting right for about a month. This infection made her severely ill and made her stump blister so badly from the fevers that she was unable to wear her current leg. Her stump has now changed shape and she is in need of a new one. My mother has gone through a ton of trouble getting a new wheel chair which she requires in her home (she has very bad arthristis in her "good" leg), and because the company she bought it through waited 2 months (she purchased the chair in December and they billed it in February) to bill the insurance company, she only gets a very small portion of the new leg covered by her benefits. A new leg is roughly $10,000, ADP covers roughly $6000, her benefits will only cover $1100. This leaves her and my father to come up with $3500 (approx) to pay for a new leg for her. My Dad is retired and struggling to keep their bills paid, my mother has been on disability for a very long time due to being unable to walk very far. My mother would and has helped anyone she can! She watches my children so I can work! I am able to cover some of this but not much. I am giving her my bonus from work which is only $750.00 but that is all I can do for her, even though i wish I could afford more. I am asking for any help that anyone can possibly offer! She needs this to be able to do simple things, like go to the washroom. I hate seeing my mother struggle, which has been non-stop the last 15 years. She is an amazing mom, friend and gramma. If anything over the goal is raised we will gladly donate to someone else in need of a new limb! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!
