EVENT: Purple Purse Challenge 2015
EVENT DATE: Oct 01, 2015
I have been involved with the Coalition for over four years but in that short time, I have heard too many stories about victims of domestic violence, and each one is deeply compelling. It is a rare instance that only the victim is affected. Everyone pays a price and some with their life. Mothers and children, fathers and friends, and members of the community are victimized each time someone is abused.
Jo Fonda Newell, a member of the Coalition Board, shares her powerful story of her abuse at the hands of her husband of 20 years. (please see her personal profile on the Coalition’s main fundraising page). She and her daughter are survivors, but not everyone has that chance. Not all victims of domestic violence have access to the financial resources to leave their abusers. To get help, the majority of victims contact their local domestic and sexual violence program.
Allstate Foundation's Purple Purse Challenge is designed to help educate and enable victims to achieve financial independence and strength. Your support could quite literally mean the difference between life and death for victims of abuse. Thank you for your support.
