This fundraiser is for me personally, to get dental surgery. I am 25 years old and have lost almost all of my teeth, and the rest crumble away, bit by bit, every day. This is an extremely painful and humiliating way to go through life. It makes the most mundane events, almost unbearable. Eating just about anything causes tremendous pain. The immediate nerve pain, migraines, and lockjaw alone make every meal a nightmare. The embarassment of not being able to smile or make a good first impression make finding a job or having any kind of social life almost impossible.

To be clear, I did not lose my teeth from drug abuse. Unless you consider Mountain Dew a drug, which I now do, and avoid at all costs. Not to mention it makes me physically ill just tasting it these days. Throughout my school years I drank it constantly and I am now paying the price for my ignorance. In less than 5 years it completely stripped the enamel from my teeth, which meant that no amount of tooth cleaning could stop the inevitable tooth decay that would follow. Once my first tooth broke and fell out, my life pretty much came to a halt. I basically became an anti-social hermit hiding away from the world because I was to embarassed to face anyone, even my family.

I am unemployed, uninsured, live with my parents, and my life has basically come to a stand-still because of this problem.

This fundraiser With a new smile, I could start over again. With a fresh start in life, I could have a chance at actually being happy, instead of settling for not being completely miserable, depressed, and in pain.
