Hello Family and Friends!
On Sunday, November 5th I will be running through all five boroughs of New York City to complete the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon! I'm super excited to be running my first marathon and achieve this lifelong goal, but also want to make sure my 26.2 miles will be going to a good cause. That is why I've decided to join the New York Cares Champions to raise money for this great organization.
New York Cares is the city’s largest volunteer management organization meeting pressing community needs by mobilizing caring New Yorkers in volunteer service. Each year over 63,000 New Yorkers (like me!) choose to volunteer with New York Cares because they know they make a real difference through the organization's programs aimed at improving education, meeting immediate needs, and revitalizing public spaces. Through this great organization, I have personally been able to participate in all types of volunteer projects- helping new immigrants learn English in Long Island City, stocking pantry shelves at the West Side Campaign Against Hunger, and even preventing soil erosion in Riverside Park.
Please consider donating and supporting me on my run and mission to support New York Cares. See how your donation can help the over 400,000 disadvantaged New Yorkers that are served by New York Cares programs every year:
- $2,500 allows 92 adults to benefit from job training
- $1,000 enables 65 low-income families to claim their tax refunds and credits
- $500 helps us to collect and distribute 166 warm winter coats to at-risk New Yorkers
- $100 gives three public high school students help with math and science
