What is it really mean to change? We all talk about the things we're going to do to make things better, but let's be honest. Doesn't it all sound like bs until you get something done? For me, I have do something dramatic, and brutal, to make my body get that things are going to be different. I've never lost a pound, met a deadline, or finished a major project that didn't stay with me everywhere I went and affect everything I do. The first step is with my body. Once I feel something drastic physically, my mind and spirit follow. That's why I decided to run the New York Marathon this year for New York Cares. Because I'm tired of listening to myself say that I'm too old, too tired, or too unfit to make this happen. It's the same thinking that implies that my actions are not "enough" to make a difference. It's time to literally crack my frame (and shred my muscles, haha) to open space for something new.
That's why I'm partnering with New York Cares to participate in the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon. As the city’s largest volunteer management organization, they have a team of runners that have committed their time and resources to raise money for New York Cares’ impactful volunteer programs that serve over 400,000 disadvantaged New Yorkers every year.
Please help support me, and NY Cares' mission to address issues related to education, hunger, homelessness, and environmental revitalization throughout the city. Every dollar New York Cares receives translates into six dollars of value back into the community. See how your donation can make a lasting impact on New York:
- $2,500 allows 92 adults to benefit from job training
- $1,000 enables 65 low-income families to claim their tax refunds and credits
- $500 helps us to collect and distribute 166 warm winter coats to at-risk New Yorkers
- $100 gives three public high school students help with math and science
Thanks so much you all, and remember that any size donation counts! Need to raise $3,000 to meet my goal by October 20!
