This will be my 4th marathon and my second time running NYC and I decided to make this marathon very special. All of the training and dedication that it takes to run a marathon is hard, but what is harder for me is thinking about the more than 6 million animals living in shelters that need new homes and knowing that only half of them will end up walking out the shelter door to a new home. One of the fundamental ways to prevent so many animals from ending up in these sad situations is to reduce their numbers through spaying and neutering. This has proven to be the only permanent and completely effective method of controlling the number of dogs and cats that end up in shelters.
I have recently joined the Board of Directors for Spay and Neuter Syracuse, which is a spay and neuter clinic for dogs and cats in Central New York. Since 2005, this clinic has provided spay and neuter services for shelter and rescue dogs and cats, feral cats, and animals belonging to low income families. Spay and Neuter Syracuse has a direct impact on our community and the surrounding areas by decreasing the number of unwanted and neglected dogs and cats and has provided this service for over 10,000 animals so far! To help continue this great work, I am asking for you to help me raise $5,000 for Spay and Neuter Syracuse to use for clinic improvements to maintain high quality care. All money that I raise will go directly to the Spay and Neuter Syracuse Clinic through the Syracuse Onondaga Cat Council to reduce the dog and cat overpopulation in our community. Please show your support for my 26.2 run in November through a donation to this great organization!
Thanks so much for caring about our wonderful animal companions!
