BENEFITING: New Yorkers for Children Inc.
ORGANIZER: New Yorkers for Children Inc.
EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2014
Dear family members, friends and colleagues,
I need your help.... See, I'm not sure if i am "made for New York" yet or "made for marathons," but I do know that I enjoy running and live for helping children in need. So I am entering the New York City marathon, November 2nd, 2014 and I need your support. I have the goal of raising at least 3,000$ dollars for foster children and adolescents in New York City. Often called “the most vulnerable children in the city,” there are nearly 13,000 young people in foster care in New York City who all deserve and need our help. I know this as I interact directly on a daily basis with these vulnerable yet resilient children and adolescents through my work both at the ACS’s Children Center (where children and adolescents reside once removed from their primary caregivers and awaiting placement) and at the Children and Adolescents Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program at Bellevue Hospital.
New Yorkers for Children (NYFC) works in partnership with the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) to improve the prospects of children supported by the child welfare system. With a focus on young people in foster care, NYFC supports programs that promote paths to stable adulthood through education and sustainable relationships with caring adults. This is the organization I chose to raise money for as their efforts, programs and initiatives has and continues to positively impact the life of foster youth.
Even though Kim has dedicated her career to fundraising for vulnerable youth, you all know that I hate asking people for money. In this case, I would appreciate your support to cover the (Boston Bound!?!) 26.2 miles. More importantly, the 13,000 foster youth need and deserve your financial support. I appreciate any contribution.
