BENEFITING: Migraine Research Foundation Inc.
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2011
I am proud to participate in the 2011 New York Marathon on behalf of the Migraine Research Foundation (MRF). This foundation is the only nonprofit organization in the United States whose sole purpose is to fund migraine research. With more than 36 million Americans suffering from this debilitating condition, it is imperative to continue research on treatment and preventative measures. The ramifications of this neurological disorder extend far beyond the pain and suffering they are most commonly associated with. Every 10 seconds in America, someone goes to the emergency room with a headache or migraine and more than $13 billion is lost annually by US employers due to lost work days from migraine sufferers. To date, the MRF has funded more than 24 grants in the US to support migraine research and since MRF’s Board underwrites all operating expenses, 100% of donations go directly to research!
As an avid runner and passionate advocate for migraine awareness, I felt joining the New York City 2011 Marathon on behalf of the Migraine Research Foundation was a perfect opportunity to support both causes. Please help me go the distance this November by contributing to this very worthy charity. Thank you so much for your support!
