BENEFITING: NEXT DOOR SOLUTIONS TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
One in three women, one in seven men, and more than 3 million children in the United States are affected by domestic violence.
Next Door Solutions (NDS) provides services to over 2,700 domestic violence survivors, and their children, annually by offering emergency shelter, Intensive Case Management, self-sufficiency workshops, and support groups that helps them make incremental gains in self-sufficiency skills and self-reliance.
Economic abuse is a form of domestic violence and includes a range of tactics used by an abuser to undermine economic independence. Self-Sufficiency services help survivors gain and regain self-reliance during and after abuse, creating greater stability in their lives, and those of their children. Working with the survivors, NDS Advocates help them define short and long-term goals in eight life domains of Income, Housing, Food, Employment, Education, Healthcare, Wellness, and Domestic Violence (safety).
Dealing with the consequences of domestic violence in our society is an enormous challenge and it takes strong partnerships to effect real change.
