Next Level Fit: Exercise Is Medicine
Organized by: Chris Coffey
Our names are Chris and Bri. We are in the process of trying to open a non profit fitness facility for special needs populations. Our mission began in 2001 at Children's Hospital in St.Paul, MN. The goal was to provide health and nutrition resources for children and their families. This concept progressed into something new in 2009 when The Institute for Exercise Medicine and Prevention (I.EM.PHIT.) was opened. I.EM.PHIT's mission was to use a medically supervised, interdisiplinary approach to improve the quality of life of underserved individuals. Our clients at I.EM.PHIT thrived in the supportive and fun atmosphere we were able to provide. Many saw tremendous improvements in their health and we were able to enhance the treatments of disease and provide prevention through teaching and helping implement wellness, fitness and nutrition into each clients lives. Unfortunately I.EM.PHIT had to close it's doors in July, 2014. We are now trying to carry on the mission with Next Level Fit. Next Level Fit currently provides in-home exercise therapy to a wide variety of individuals. These individuals have many different diagnosis and capabilities. Our hope is to open a new facility for our clients to receive services at. This facility will provide a safe, supportive, and enjoyable atmosphere for our clients to exercise and learn about living a healthy lifestyle. We need the help of our community in order to make this happen. Please help us continue our mission.
