BENEFITING: Children's Tumor Foundation
ORGANIZER: Children's Tumor Foundation
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2016
Hi and welcome to my Fundraising Page. As most of you know I have been a part of the NF Endurance Team for a few years where I have committed to raise awareness and funds for The Children’s Tumor Foundation. I am once again heading to the NYC Half Marathon on March 20, 2016 with my team. My goal is to raise $2000.00 that will go to help those living and suffering with Neurofibromatosis and for the continuous research so that a cure may one day be found. My daughter, Chloe, was diagnosed with NF 2 when she was 13 years old. She had a very aggressive form of this neurological genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow along various types of nerves anywhere on or in the body. By the time Chloe passed away, she was completely deaf, blind from one eye, had no sense of smell, was in a wheelchair, had a trachea and feeding tube, and was in constant pain. She was 26 years old. I don’t list these things for shock-value; they are just a reality for many living with NF. So why do I continue my efforts into finding a cure for NF when my daughter is no longer with us? Because she’d want me to and because I as a mother who witnessed my child suffer daily, find it impossible not to do what I can to support The Children’s Tumor Foundation.
The Children's Tumor Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending NF through research, and to improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by NF. There are currently no effective treatments nor a cure. You can help by supporting me as I run the streets of NYC. No donation is too small, but at the very least, please share my fundraising page with your friends and family.
I truly appreciate your time and support. Peace and love. Syl.
