BENEFITING: Neurofibromatosis Incorporated Northeast
ORGANIZER: Neurofibromatosis Incorporated Northeast
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am honored to be able to participate in the 2015 Boston Marathon with the Neurofibromatosis Northeast Team this coming April. NF Northeast is a 501c3 organization whose mission is treatment and the cure for Neurofibromatosis by promoting scientific research, creating awareness, and supporting those who are affected by NF.
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disorder of the nervous system that causes tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in or on the body at any time. NF affects all races, all ethnic groups and both sexes equally. NF affects more people than Cystic Fibrosis and Muscular Dystrophy combined!
I am running in honor of the Burke Family whose son Jack was diagnosed with a Plexiform Neurofibroma (a complex tumor) just behind his left eye at age 2. Now at age 9 he just finished a grueling 48 weeks of chemotherapy to treat a tumor discovered on his brain stem. No Child should have to endure that kind of treatment. But through it all I have never seen Jack without a smile on his face and attitude to match. One thing I have witnessed since supporting this cause it the optimism of the families with NF. They continue fighting and are extremely hopeful for a cure someday.
As I prepare for this 26.2 miles I hope that you can help me and help these families find a cure. My goal is to raise $5000 for Neurofibromatosis Northeast. Your donation whether it be $5 or $500, will provide critical funding to the Neurofibromatosis Northeast Team.
I appreciate your support in helping me raise money to find a cure for Jack and all the others fighting this disease.
With Love and Gratitude
