NFTY-SAR Goes to NFTY Convention
Organized by: Jaime Cojac
EVENT DATE Feb 13, 2015
NFTY Convention is the biennial gathering of all 19 NFTY regions and this year, for the first time ever, this event is in our home region, NFTY-SAR! We want to make it possible for as many SAR teens to attend NFTY Convention as possible.
NFTY Convention creates a community for our teens unlike any other...
5 days with over 1,000 Jewish high school students from across North America!
A magical Shabbat experience:
Teens will experience the Reform Movement’s ground-breaking music and worship experiences. There will be song sessions and concerts with our brightest and best musicians (past musicians have included Josh Nelson, Dan Nichols, Rick Recht and Alan Goodis). Shabbat is an extraordinary moment, with a community of over a thousand teens and adults who join in worship together.
Over 200 interactive sessions:
Teens will gain new skills, hear fresh perspectives on hot topics, and explore the connections between themselves and their communities.
Big moments you can’t experience anywhere else:
These multimedia plenary sessions feature well-known teen and adult speakers, popular Jewish musicians, and more. This year we will celebrate NFTY’s 75th anniversary! Past guests have included Actors Joshua Malina (Sportsnight, Scandal), Scott Wolf (Party of Five) and Bob Saget (Full House), Musicians Adam Gardner (from the band Guster) and Hadag Nahash, television producers Marta Kaufman (Friends) and Aaron Sorkin (West Wing, Newsroom).
A day touring Atlanta:
Teens will visit popular sites and learn about the city’s rich history.
A new opportunity to gain new skills that will translate into leadership and job opportunities in your community
Teens can choose a specialized leadership seminar focused on songleading, social justice advocacy, and assistant teaching (Madrichim).
Expanding social networks to include more Jewish teens around world
For the first time, our teens will have the opportunity to take part in joint programs with BBYO International Convention.
We are a teen-led movement:
Teens were involved in every aspect of planning the Convention, and your child well see their peers leading almost every session. They will have opportunities to influence the future of NFTY and participate in the election of the next North American teen leadership board.
NFTY is part of the URJ Youth family of camps and programs.
Our network includes summer camps, Israel programs, social justice and service travel experiences, and NFTY youth group programming. If this is your child’s first NFTY experience, they (and you!) will be welcomed with open-arms into our community.
NFTY Convention is a safe, secure and meaningful Jewish experience for all involved.
Our highest priority is to ensure the health and safety of all our participants, staff, and adults attending NFTY Convention. Our intensive planning process focuses on the well-being of all involved to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience!
