We're the Coalition's Public Policy Team and we are committed to creating safe and just communities through advocacy at the State House. Our efforts to coordinate bipartisan stakeholders to advance legislation, including Joshua's Law which made domestic violence a crime, is made possible by donors like you.
With your support, we've been able to:
- Advocate alongside the Marriott family to protect the privacy of their daughter, Lizzi, and preserve New Hampshire's Rape Shield Law.
- Support the passage of Joshua's Law, which created a specific domestic violence charge to cover cases of abuse involving intimate partners or relatives, and places the names of those individuals convicted of the crimes into a federal database that prohibits them from purchasing or possessing firearms. In 2015 alone, 5,700 people in NH were charged under Joshua's Law.
- Work to establish a penalty for the nonconsensual distribution of private sexual images, which is often referred to as “revenge porn.”
- Create a series of "No More" forums during the New Hampshire primary to discuss sexual assault and human trafficking issues with presidential candidates.
The Coalition's public policy work depends primarily on private donations. Your gift today will help to ensure we have the resources to continue advocating for victims in the state legislature and public discourse in our ongoing efforts to end domestic and sexual violence in New Hampshire.
