NEW HAMPSHIRE COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC & SEXUAL VIOLENCE wrote -
Established in 1977, the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence creates safe and just communities through advocacy, prevention and empowerment of anyone affected by sexual violence, domestic violence and stalking.
The Coalition provides technical and financial support to 13 independent crisis centers across New Hampshire and serves as a leading voice for victims by working with state government and national elected officials to create and defend effective laws and policies that serve survivors, protect children, hold perpetrators accountable, and support prevention efforts.
Housed under the Coalition is the AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program (AVAP.) AVAP is made up of AmeriCorps members who serve as advocates at crisis centers, prosecutors’ offices and police departments and operate with a specific lens of providing economic empowerment services to survivors. Funds raised through the Purple Purse will support enhancing the efforts of the AVAP members to provide one to one support to survivors, and offer comprehensive workshops in their communities. Purple Purse funds will help us bring in a national trainer later this year to enhance the skill set and tools that AVAP members utilize when working with survivors. Additionally, financial support will allow for the Coalition and AVAP to explore innovative strategies and economic empowerment opportunities for survivors throughout New Hampshire.
Your donation today - of any amount - will ensure services are accessible and available to survivors in New Hampshire.
PS: We are so excited one of our crisis centers, HAVEN, is participating in the 2016 Purple Purse Challenge, too!
