NHS provides innovative solutions to support the unique needs of individuals we serve by striving to create a
caring and responsive environment that promotes the highest standards of integrity and quality.
The NHS Human Services opened its doors in Philadelphia in October 1969 providing five mandated services.
NHS has grown to a multi – state, multi – service, non – profit provider of human services.
For more than 10 years, NHS Human Services has been providing behavioral health services to
children and families who are affected by Pervasive Developmental Disorders,
specifically Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder (NOS) and Asperger Syndrome.
Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders bring with them the special challenges of living in a world that is not always
built to accommodate their unique needs. NHS has responded to that problem by creating the NHS Schools which
incorporate the best of its existing Autism Services into the framework of an educational setting.
The NHS Autism Schools are Licensed Private Academic Schools that specialize in the education of children and
adolescents with an Autism Spectrum Disorder in grades k – 12 (ages 5 – 21).
YORk is one of the 13 schools in Pa and opened in 2007. The goal of our school is
to provide academic instruction while increasing each child’s environmental engagement with
a focus on the development of social skills, life skills, and pro – social behaviors.
We are asking for donations that will help enhance our school and provide opportunities of structure,
routine, education and life skills for our students. We are currently restructuring and reorganizing our school to
continue to meet the needs of our students, to develop their life skills to their fullest potential, to help each student
personally gain success in their personal growth and learning while becoming advocates for themselves.
Some of the things that we are looking for are:
** Food donations for students culinary projects
** Carpet remnants for classrooms
** Storage units for supplies and books
** Student chairs
** Desks – student/teacher
** Gift cards
** Any monetary donations
** Art Supplies
** Board games
** Cooking supplies
** Bulletin boards
All donations are tax deductible and will be recognized at corporate board meetings,
our open house in the fall and any other publicity we are able to generate for the school.
Thank you in advance for participation, I look forward to hearing from you.
