"Why do I think Chill is special? Chill focuses on each individual child's or teenager's potential instead of dwelling on past issues. Chill removes participants from their frequently toxic environment - physically transporting them to the mountain, the skate park, the lake, or the ocean, and gives them the opportunity to focus on themselves, while enjoying rapid emotional growth and success in their chosen board sport. " I read this in an email a little while back, and it really embodied what I love about Chill. It came in a newsletter that had a note from one of our CHILL Kids where they ley us know what CHILL had done for them, learning what respect really means, and getting back up when you fall down, and always trying things that may be difficult! That is really why I love CHILL, because we get to cheer these kids on who may not have had this opportunity if it weren't for the organization. We get to see them be persistant and get back up when they fall week after week, leaving with new skills and new friends and maybe new goals! They might not snowboard again once the program is over, but I hope that they take what they learn and apply to their life. I hope they remember that time that they fell, got back up and did something awesome!
