Volunteers are the key to creating lasting change in rural communities in Nicarauga. You see, it is not just a problem you can throw money at. It is a problem that requires a lot of time, one on one time with residents, and consistency.
Volunteers comprise mostly of students at the university level. They are ready and willing to come and help, but most of them need financial help. They need sponsorship to make it happen. Air fare is pretty high to Nicaragua from California and Texas. On top of the air fare, volunteers also have to cover the cost of room and board. NICA has worked out a very affordable package for volunteers, but many students still need assistance to make it to Nicaragua.
NICA hopes to provide U$5,000.00 in scholarships this year to 10 students willing to volunteer in California at our headquarters before or after their trip.
