The Nicholas F. Murray Endowed Memorial Scholarship at R.I.T was established in loving memory of our son Nick. Nick was a third year engineering student at R.I.T when he suddenly passed away October 2, 2010. Nick was a friend to everyone he met. His warmth and compassion for those he met were what people recall most about him. Nick loved to laugh and when you heard him, you couldn’t help but smile. His smile was contagious and genuine. Memories of Nick and the virtues he believed in bring words to mind such as character, strength and honor. Nick’s character was unmatched, evidenced by the way he lived his life and put other people first. If you needed help, he would be the first one there for you. That is the focal point behind this scholarship...to honor his memory. The scholarship was established to provide aid to students in R.I.T's Kate Gleason College of Engineering and is intended for an incoming freshman (first-year) in engineering, preferably Micro-Electronic Engineering. Students are eligible from Shaker High School or surrounding schools in the capital district. It is the hope of Nick’s family that the recipient of the scholarship not only becomes a successful engineer, but uses their engineering degree to further help society as a whole. Thank you for your support and generosity.
